HIGH SCHOOL LESSONS IN CONTROL FREAK BEHAVIOUR

  • For the boys especially to learn what is Control Freak behaviour, so do not get involved in family life nor stay overnight with a girl, which they will never be able to cope with. Could end up in him murdering his family and committing suicide afterwards, so danger to his life.

Background from a law firm website:

  • Possessiveness.

From a refuge charity, an example of behaviour of Control Freak to a victim:

Briony's personal testimony

“I remember sitting in our flat at home, windows open and the sun was just beaming in, there was a lovely breeze, and I was thinking – wouldn’t it be nice if we could just go to the park?”

~ Briony*

Briony is one of the many women (the charity had) helped. Briony told (charity) how summer can be particularly challenging for women living with abusers – and their children.

While people are outside enjoying themselves, going to the park, having fun days out, and taking their children places, these women simply can’t.

Abusers often increase their control during the summer, due to the increased stress from children being on summer break, high temperatures, and generally more people being outside. ... kids spend ... school holiday inside while all their friends are at the park.

Briony's personal testimony

“They do use the fact that there’s more people out to keep you in. You’re living this life where you are beaten to a subdued state. You just agree to it because that’s better than the hell that they will let loose if you disagree. There have been times where I was pleading to go out, begging – saying please, it’s a family day out, our child can go sit on a fire engine.”
