MENOPAUSE POLICIES FOR OVER 50s and Perimenopause for young ladies
- Menopause to be made a protected characteristic in the Equality Act 2010
- Statutory "menopause leave" to include the diagnosis of Perimenopause, which usually begins after the age of 40 (though it can start earlier).
- Flexible working to be introduced for female workers going through their menopause cycle.
- Fans and adjusted uniforms (including uniforms specific for female anatomy for all ages) provided under reasonable adjustments in the workplace for ladies suffering menopause.
- Rights to:
- paid leave and
- to work from home.
- Age 50 full works pensions for manual jobs.
- Return of early works pension age 50.
- Age 50 Allowance for those without works pensions and fall out of work, without requirement to seek work.
One in 10 women quitting their jobs over the menopause.
Symptoms include:
- hot flashes,
- night sweats,
- vaginal dryness,
- discomfort during sex and
- difficulty sleeping.
- headaches,
- palpitations,
- joint stiffness,
- aches and pains,
- reduced muscle mass and
- recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs).
It can also affect your general mood like
- causing a low mood or anxiety,
- reduced sex drive,
- problems with memory and concentration.
A YouGov poll (in above article) showed:
- Over two-thirds women (64%) and nearly half of the men (47%) completely support the idea of paid menopausal leave being a legal requirement in the workplace.
