NHS / GP PRESCRIPTIONS /
UNDER ACTIVE THYROID
- Make all prescriptions free for all ages in fully public NHS in England.
- Already free in Scotland, Ulster and Wales.
- Grant Armour NDT as free prescription for all ages for under-active thyroid.
- First medicine made in our own government medicine-making facility, from our own British pig's thyroid, would be our own Armour NDT.
- Employ specific Thyroid NHS Consultants (not lumped in with Endocrinologist Consultants, who, in UK, mostly interested in Diabetes) and train in dosage /blood tests for UK state run pharmacy made Armour. Liaise with Thyroid Madness campaigners.
- Diagnosis test to be the full panel, as thyroid problems are far more complex than presently considered by medicine.
- Educate GPs about under active thyroid.
- Cap medicine prices (as they do in Europe) in a fully public NHS.
- Establish a generic (out of patent, aka grandfathered) government-owned drug company.
- If fair prices are rejected for patented drugs, we will use the Patents Act provisions, compulsory licences and research exemptions to secure access to generic versions, and we will aim to increase the number of pharmaceutical jobs in the UK.
- We will play an active role in the medical innovation model, ensuring rewards and incentives match the areas of greatest health need. Especially listening to women's health needs, not heeded by doctors now by how they are taught that discrimination in medical school.
BACKGROUND
WHY IS NDT NOT AVAILABLE ON
FREE NHS PRESCRIPTION NOW?
Drug companies are permitted to massively over-charge for medicine to the NHS, which is why even T3 tablets are becoming less available on free NHS prescription
(over-charged 6,000 per cent).
UK ORGANIC PIG FARMERS AND COMPOUNDING CHEMISTS
UK could make their own Armour Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT) tablets, because NDT could be generic made by pharmacies, as over 150 years old recipe, from UK pig farmers with high welfare standards and organic, and helping the rare breeds trusts as well.
One of the reasons maybe (?) for some price gouging (over-charging) for Armour, is that some chemist compounders report not making compounded NDT any more because of the difficulty in finding a good batch of porcine (pig) powder.
PHARMACIES MAKING THEIR OWN
OUT OF PATENT (aka grandfathered) MEDICINES IN HOLLAND
..."the specialised compounding pharmacies, which have on-site laboratories, have been backed by the Dutch government as part of efforts to tame rapidly rising medicine costs."...
